White golf ball printed with the 'Top 100 in 10' podcast logo

Top 100 in 10 is a golf podcast about a couple of amateur golfers – Nish and Chris – who are on a mission to play a round at each of the top 100 golf courses in the UK and Ireland within just 10 years.

Nish was already a loyal gimmeballs customer, so when he came up with an idea for a new podcast segment that would require a whole bunch of custom-printed golf balls, we were his first port of call.

Hi! I buy customised golf balls from you already, and I have a podcast called the Top 100 in 10 Golf Podcast that is charting our journey to playing the top 100 courses in Great Britain and Ireland in 10 years. We've just launched a brand new segment called The Lost Ball Diaries. I'm a 17 handicapper, so I lose a few golf balls per round. I need a logo and a link printed on my golf balls, and if someone visits the web link, they can tag our socials and win a sleeve of their preferred golf balls.

Nish ordered several boxes of Callaway Supersoft golf balls from gimmeballs, and we printed them up with the Top 100 in 10 logo and a link that goes to the podcast's website.

What's the idea behind The Lost Ball Diaries?

Let's be honest – as much as we all love golf here, none of us are going to be troubling the WGR rankings any time soon. We can get through 18 holes without embarrassing ourselves, but even at our best, we tend to lose a ball or two along the way.

Nish is just the same: a golf enthusiast, certainly, but not quite a golf master just yet. The Lost Ball Diaries is his rather clever way of making lemons into lemonade and turning all of those stray shots into ads for his podcast.

If you're visiting one of the courses on the top 100 list and you come across one of Nish's lost golf balls, you can follow the link on the ball and net yourself a free sleeve of your preferred balls! See top100in10.co.uk/lost for details – basically you have to post a picture of the found ball and tag the podcast in order to claim your prize. We think it's a great idea and we were very pleased to help Nish out with it.

Playing golf in winter

Looking for the best winter golf balls? Our picks for 2025/26 include the Callaway Supersoft, the TaylorMade Distance+ and the Titleist AVX. Read on to find out why!

Why switch golf balls in winter?

Wondering why you should give up your favourite golf ball when the weather gets cold? Well, the golfers who switch balls every season tend to do so for one of two reasons:

  1. Cold weather makes your golf ball firmer. This can make things challenging if you were already using a fairly firm golf ball to begin with. The best golf balls for winter tend to be soft, low-compression golf balls.

  2. In winter, you are more likely to lose your golf balls. Depending on where you are, the green may be frozen over or muddy with rain, but it’s not ideal for play either way. You don’t want to be wasting money on premium balls when the course isn’t in premium condition.

So, with that in mind, here are our top 5 best winter golf balls:

Best Golf Balls For Winter

  1. Callaway Supersoft
  2. Titleist AVX
  3. TaylorMade Distance+
  4. Wilson Duo Soft
  5. Srixon Distance

1) Callaway Supersoft

In the winter, you’re looking for a golf ball that is both soft and affordable. Callaway Supersoft meets these criteria and then some.

These golf balls are reasonably priced (and they frequently go on sale) so it won’t be too much of a loss if they go missing. With a compression score of only 38, these are the some of the softest golf balls on the market and are pretty reliable in chilly conditions.

2) Titleist AVX

If the cold weather has you packing up your Pro V1s but you are still a loyal Titleist fan, then try the Titleist AVX. This is a much softer golf ball that should still perform well even when the green is a bit frosty.

The AVX is much more than just a Pro V1 replacement. It boasts a high-gradient core for fantastic speeds and distances, with an aerodynamic dimple pattern for optimal ball flight.

3) TaylorMade Distance+

TaylorMade’s Distance+ golf balls are a reliable choice no matter the season. These balls have earned their spot on our ‘best golf balls for winter’ list by delivering on speed and flight, despite the soft feel.

The Distance+ golf ball has a compression rating of 77. While this is much firmer than a Callaway Supersoft, it’s still on the softer side in the grand scheme of things. If you usually play with a firm ball, this golf ball should serve you well in cold weather.

4) Wilson Duo Soft

The Wilson Duo Soft is an underrated golf ball that deserves more attention. Add the Duo Soft to your golf bag this winter to see what it’s capable of, even in the cold.

The Wilson Duo Soft has a high energy core, low spin, and a compression rating of 37. The dimple pattern has been carefully engineered to help you achieve a flat flight and great distance.

5) Srixon Distance

Srixon Distance golf balls are quite popular among budget-conscious golfers. They cost just £20 per box of 12 (at time of writing) and perform impressively for the price.

If you’re expecting to lose a lot of golf balls this winter, go with the Srixon Distance. It has a soft centre, but is a bit firmer around the outside. This durable ball has an ionomer cover and a 324 dimple pattern.

Best Golf Ball for High Swing Speeds

Golf balls compress differently depending on the swing speed at impact. Players that have swing speeds consistently reaching above 105mph will most likely need a high-compression golf ball with a firmer core to maximise distance and minimise excessive spin. If there is too much spin, you run the risk of your ball ballooning too high, whereas if you have too little spin, your shot will likely have poor stopping power.

So if you have a high swing speed, keep reading this blog our top 5 golf ball suggestions that are sure to elevate your game!
